Freeflow 2025
JFS School's annual dance showcase: Freeflow.

As noted in previous posts, Freeflow is our second biggest theatre production of the academic year. Working on tech for this event is always a lot of fun and gives us lots of creative freedom. Sadly, I was unable to attend the evening this year due to a bereavement in my family, however, I was able to attend the rehearsals, and spent time programming the lighting for the show.
Like previous years, we went with the classic setup of our "uplighters" behind a white curtain and "mini movers" evenly spaced out along the stage. This year however, the weather was not on our side. With a high of about 32°C, we decided against using Haze as it would made it harder to sit in the already hot theatre (there is no air conditioning).
Another difference to last year, we decided against using Ontime. While the software was great, easy to use, and a help to the cast backstage, it required an extra person to manage it, and monitors with computers connected to the internet.
Looking back at the event, I was happy with the design of the lighting, and enjoyed watching the recording to see it in action. This would have been my last tech event at JFS, and the rehearsals gave me a lot of time to reflect on my time at the school.
