Freeflow is our second biggest theatre production of the year (After the school production).
This year, I went all out. I was approached by our Head of Dance to create a video of all the freeflows which the 2024 Leavers were in. As well as this, I wanted to create an "intro video" which would play to get everyone quiet and "hyped". Finally, I was also part of designing the lighting, and programming the sound.
This year, I wanted to try using the newest version of the lighting software ETC EOS (We can only have 2.9 because our lighting desk is still on Windows XP - and can't be on v3.2). So I reached out to an ex-JFS student who let us use his lighting desk for the day. This allowed me to try out new features, and create the best lighting design I could.
Finally, We also experimented using a new software called Ontime which allows us to put screens backstage so that the cast can keep track of what song we were on. This was great as our cast are not in the same room as theatre (as we dont have enough space) and allowed them to keep track and not arrive backstage too late! It turned out to be a success and you can find the software here
Overall, this event was one of the best and emotional Freeflows I have worked on - It was not only great because of dance, but also allowed us to explore our creativity the most, giving us the most freedom we have had.
