High School Musical 2022

At the time of writing this, it has been two years since the 2022 production, and I can't stop thinking about the amazing experience that it was. During the rehearsal process I acted as a co-student director and assisted with organisation and admin. This was my third production at the school, but the first as a head of tech and being involved in the production side of things. In addition to this, I was also the lighting design with my friend and sound designer and operator.

As mentioned, this was my first production where I was involved in designing lighting, and it was definitely a learning curve. I already knew the lighting desk at an intermediate level, but I had never designed a show before. Our winter productions start their rehearsal process as the new academic year starts, however, we always know what the production will be by the end of the previous year. In this case, we knew we wanted to do High School Musical by June and started planning our dates, getting the rights, and I started reading through and marking locations, time of days, sound effects and lighting cues.
